Richard E. McDade

September 28, 1954 ~ March 13, 2015 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Richard E. McDade Jr., 60, of Baden, died suddenly Friday, March 13, 2015, in Trinity Hospital, Muscatine, IA.

Born September 28, 1954, in New Brighton, he was a son of Elizabeth Cochran McDade of Washington, PA, and the late Richard E. McDade Sr. He owned and operated HIRL Trucking of Baden, and most recently signed with Trans American Trucking. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway; Aliquippa Elks, Baden American Legion, and had served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. A graduate of Ambridge Area High School, he attended the University of Pittsburgh.

Richard was a man with a big heart and a bigger persona. He bled family, friends and, of course, black and gold. He packed a lot of life and laughter into his 60 years. He was a gymnast, boxer, paralegal, surfer, drywall finisher and chef. With his larger than life personality and versatile background, he was able to cook for the Steelers. He created quality nicknames, introduced his son to Rick Flair, and boxed with the likes of Mike Weaver and O. J. Simpson. He impacted more people than he could have ever realized. This was a man known by names dad, son, husband, pappy, brother and friend. He was affectionately referred to as Train Rick, Tricky, the Candy Man and many other unmentionables.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Betsy (LaGatta) McDade; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jenny McDade, McDonald, PA; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rachel and Donald Albring, Baden; Rebecca McDade, Center Township, and Jennifer and William Fejka, Ambridge; eight grandchildren, Xavier and Hunter Albring, Piper, Ryder, Alexis and Skye McDade, and Alexis and Alyssa Fejka; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Peggy McDade, Alexandria, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Norman Foster, Washington, PA, and Maribeth and Tom Moore, Wexford, PA; his former wife, Barbara McDade, Center Twp., and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received Friday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Beaver County Humane Society.
