Janet Gilotty, 77, of Hopewell Twp., died Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Masonic Village of Sewickley.

Born April 23, 1939, in Sewickley, a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Balough Matusiak, she was an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and also the Christian Mothers.

As a young girl, Jan prayerfully considered entering the convent. But as a teen she met Rich, and after quiet discernment, felt her calling was that of wife and mother. When asked by her daughter, Debi, just a few years ago whether she ever wondered about how different her life might have been, she didn't hesitate, but quickly replied, "Not at all! My greatest joy in life was being a Mom!" And what an amazing Mom (and Grammy) she was. Selfless to a fault, she was the embodiment of pure love. Her kind and gentle ways could sooth whatever ailed your troubled heart. She was God's sweet gift to all who knew her. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Gilotty, on April 21, 2010 and a son, Richard Gilotty, in 2011.

Surviving are a son, Jeff Gilotty, Hopewell Twp.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandy Carroll, Ambridge; Debi and Clint Boyle, Wexford; a son-in-law, Bob Carroll, Economy; six grandchildren, Nicole and her husband, Paul Ilko, Beaver; Laura Carroll, Pittsburgh; Ryan Carroll, Washington, D.C.; Brendan Carroll, Economy; Jason Gilotty and Chealsea Marshall, both of Gibsonia; Jaimee and her husband, Brian Lang, Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Taylin and Leo Gilotty.

Friends will be received Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Howard Campbell officiating.
