George Vasilakis

George Vasilakis, 87, formerly of Ambridge, died Sunday, September 20, 2015, in Villa St. Joseph.

Born October 24, 1927, in Ambridge, a son of the late Zacharias and Alexia Berakis Vasilakis, he was retired from the American Bridge Company. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the AHEPA, Ambridge American Legion, past president of the church council, former member of the Board of Directors of the New Alliance Credit Union, and had served on the Architectural Review Board of Old Economy, Ambridge.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Hronas Vasilakis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Alexander and Marion Vasilakis, Brighton Township, and Dr. Chris and Gena Vasilakis, Morgantown, WV; two grandchildren, Georgia and Kristen Vasilakis, both of Brighton Township; a brother, Nick Vasilakis, Ambridge; a sister, Evangeline Georgaroudakis, Ambridge, and three godchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Father Emmanuel Vasilakis.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. A service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge, with Rev. Father Emmanuel Lillios officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Trisagion service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Notaro and the staff at Villa St. Joseph for their excellent, compassionate care they gave our father.
