OFFICIAL OBITUARY FOR

William D. Palumbo

1929 - 2021

OBITUARY Print

William (Bill) Palumbo passed away peacefully on July 2, 2021

preceded in death by parents Dominick and Mary Palumbo and six brothers.

Bill was born in Ambridge, PA on April 8, 1929.  At an early age Bill learned a strong work ethic which carried with him throughout his life.  Bill was a graduate of Ambridge High School and in July 1948 joined and proudly served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge four years later.  Shortly after, he met his wife, Rose, and on June 26, 1954 they were married.  Liking to stay active, Bill held different jobs throughout his life even after retirement from his decade-long career as a printer for United States Steel (later USX).  Bill was known for his kindness and willingness to help others with whatever was needed.  He was a devoted son, and for colleagues and relatives alike, there wasn’t a printing press Bill didn’t fix or a house he didn’t paint.

Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose (nee Panaia), his two sons, Jeff (Shelley), Larry (Sheri), and his two grandsons, Enzo and Rocco.  Bill was a loyal husband and steadfast father and grandfather who is remembered for attending every little league game, hitting thousands of fly balls,

and being there for his family every step of the way.  The feather in Bill’s Cap of Life for the last 20 years was spending as much time as possible with his two grandsons whom he adored!

A Mass for Bill was said in Rome, Italy by Fr. Daniele Vallecorsa.

A Mass will also be celebrated for family at a later date.  There will be no viewing.

Our sympathy extends to each of you.  The photo truly captures his smile and wonderful nature.  We enjoyed our visits with him and Rose in their beautiful home.  One time when discussing family stories he proudly showed us his dad's military papers he had found from WW I.  Despite his inability to master English, his dad had risen to the rank of Sargent and became an American citizen because of his service.  Like father, like son, Bill continued  his life in service to his country, his family and friends.  How lucky we all were to have him in our lives!  Love, Cousins Fran Romeo & Barry Jones

Shawn and I met Bill and Rose at Jeff and Shelley's wedding in Regina, SK August 1991, and then in Rocklin, CA
20 years later for S&J's 20th Wedding Anniversary. Although we don't have a specific memory, that smile is one that will never be forgotten. Such a warm, friendly and welcoming couple.
Tenderly....may time heal your sorrow
Gently....may friends ease your pain
Softly....may peace replace heartaches
and may warmest memories remain.

He lived by my grandparents, who lived on Ivy Street in Ambridge. He was always nice and friendly when we visited my grandparents. Rest in Peace

We are so sorry for your loss. Reading Mr. Palumbo’s history made us wish we had been able to meet him. What a role model he has obviously been to his sons and grandsons. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.🙏❤️
