Walter Heitzenrater, 86, of Economy Boro, died Wednesday August 12, 2026, Quality Life Services, New Castle. Born June 25, 1940, Sewickley, he was the son of the late Grant and Reida Schmidt Heitzenrater. He was a retired teacher from the Ambridge Area School District, member of St Luke the Evangelist/ Good Samaritan Church, graduate of Memphis State, where he played football, lifetime member of the Ambridge District Sportsmens Association, and was an Ambridge football coach. Surviving is his wife, Carmen Costanza Heitzenrater, two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Mary Heitzenrater, Minnesota, Tommy and Kristin Heitzenrater, Economy, five grandchildren, Max, Brett, Camryn, Brady and Riley, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug Heitzenrater, Ron and Kim Heitzenrater, Rich and Bonnie Heitzenrater, one sister, Nancy Malay, daughter-in-law, Stacey Heitzenrater and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Heitzenrater and a brother, Danny Joe Heitzenrater. Friends will be received on Monday August 17, 2026 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave, Ambridge. A Blessing Service will follow at 4:00pm. A private interment will take place at Economy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
