Theodore Polas Obituary

Theodore (Ted) Stephen Polas, 80, of Economy Boro, died Sunday September 15, 2024, at home. Born March 2, 1944, Sewickley, he was the son of the late Steve and Mary Kirish Polas. He worked at various companies throughout the area, notably Armco and Weirton Steel as a professional electrical engineer. He was a member of St John Orthodox Church, Past Trustee, Curator and alter boy of St John Orthodox Church, member “Tau Beta Pi” Engineering Honor Society, member of National Honor Society, class of 1962, Professional Engineer (PE) & Engineer in Training (EIT), in both Ohio & PA., member of IEEE & AISE, Past Trustee & current lifetime member of Rochester Sportsman’s Club & lifetime member of Bradford PA Sportsman’s Club. He was a graduate of Ambridge High School 1962, attended the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Ann (Kotula) Polas, February 27, 2016 and by many aunts and uncles of the Kirish and Polas families. Surviving is his son, Timmy S. Polas, Economy, one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Robert Jurasko, Hopewell Twp., two nieces, Diane Jones, Coraopolis, Shari Jurasko, Hopewell Twp., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marge and Ken Jerich, Illinois and his grand dog,  Moose. Ted loved his wife, son and parents dearly and would do anything for them. He was the caregiver for his parents and wife and soulmate Georgia, until her passing in 2016, he loved her “always and forever” and now will be laid to rest next to her. He especially loved and was proud of his son Timmy, who has touched the lives of many people. Ted was introduced to the outdoors by Uncle John Kirish and he continued to enjoy the outdoors, fishing, hunting, trapshooting & spending time at the family cabin in Marshburg, Pa. He always enjoyed the friendly conversations & exchanges of stories with other true sportsmen. At home, he always planted vegetable & flower gardens, enjoyed cooking outdoors on the grill and performing household projects with his father & son. He attended St John Orthodox Church faithfully, which was very dear to him and he was especially proud of his Carpatho-Rusin Heritage. Ted wishes to apologize and ask forgiveness from anyone to whom he may have offended. Friends will be received Wednesday September 18, 2024 from 3-7 ,BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. Translation of the body to follow to St John Orthodox Church, where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 19, 2024 at 10:00am, with Fr. Mark Wisnosky, officiating. Interment will follow Economy Cemetery. A parastas service will be held Wednesday at 7:00pm in the funeral home.
