Shirley M. (Grafton) Bankowski

Shirley (Grafton) Bankowski, 84, of Bell Acres Boro, died Sunday August 21, 2022, Heritage Valley Sewickley. Born December 22, 1937, Kittanning, she was the eldest of 9 siblings to the late Dale and Margaret Gray Grafton. She attended St Mary’s Catholic School for 8 years and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1955. She was most grateful to have graduated from Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing on a scholarship and worked in various fields of nursing for 42 years, after which she did 6 years of volunteer work for hospice. The cherished memories of family camping trips and travel and loved to read, write, sew, needle point, knitting and crocheting. She sewed most of her own clothes as well as her sons shirts and husbands sport coats. She worked hard and accomplished much. She loved everyone of her family with passion and cherished all of her friendships. She hopes that everyone remembers her with kindness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life in 1996, her husband Phillip Bankowski, with whom she had 38 years, one brother Joseph Grafton, sister-in-law, Connie Grafton and brother-in-law, Victor Bankowski. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher Bankowski, Bedford, Brian and Debra Bankowski, Bell Acres Boro, two grandchildren, Ethan and Blake Bankowski, two brothers and sister-in-law, James Grafton, New York, Steve and Karen Grafton, New Hampshire, five sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene Rizzo, Niagara Falls, Susan and Ron Bowser, Ford City, Terri and Karl Scardini, Faye and Gary Heighly, Ford City, Rita and Ron Schaub, Kittanning, one sister-in-law, Carol Bankowski, Jamestown, NY, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. As per her request, there will be no viewing. BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, is in charge of arrangements.
