Rose (Rosie) Palumbo passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Larry A. and Mary T. Panaia; husband, William D. Palumbo; son, Jeffrey A. Palumbo; and two brothers, Larry R. Panaia and Vincent A. Panaia.
Rose was born in Ambridge, PA on July 28, 1932. Rose graduated from Ambridge High School and Robert Morris College. She was proud to work in the city of Pittsburgh for many years, where she would ride the train to the city and enjoyed Pittsburgh’s shopping and culture. After that, she worked for many years at the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley, PA in the Accounts Receivable department. Rose was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ambridge. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Rose was known for her wonderful Italian cooking and baking. The Palumbo sunporch was filled with dozens of cookies during the holidays and the Sunday and Holiday meals were truly incredible. Her loving sons, Jeff and Larry affectionately nicknamed her “Rosie the Riveter” because of her never ending housekeeping!
Rose is survived by her son Larry (Sheri), her two beloved grandsons, Enzo and Rocco, her daughter-in-law, Shelley and four nieces and a nephew. The feather in Rose’s hat for the last 22 years has been spending as much time as possible with her grandsons, Enzo and Rocco, whom she adored. She made many memories with them on vacations, Sunday dinners, baking Italian cookies with them as a tradition, and never missed any of their sporting events. She always had a calming effect on them and was always such a positive influence in their lives. They adored her just as much!
A Mass for Rose was said in Rome, Italy on Friday, October 25, by her godson,
Father Daniele Vallecorsa.
A Mass will be celebrated for family at a later date. At Rose’s request, there will be no viewing. Bohn-Matich Funeral and Cremation Services, Ambridge, PA will oversee the arrangements.
The family wishes to thank Concordia at Villa St. Joseph for the loving care they provided.
