Romano Perri Obituary

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Romano Perri of Baden, loving husband and father to five children, passed away at the age of 94.  Romano was the son of the late Pasquale “Patsy” Perri and Rosa Agostini Perri Inzirillo.  He was born on August 24, 1928, in Plati, Italy.  A few years later, Romano moved to northern Italy, where he and his family endured and survived the hardships of the Nazi German occupation during WW II.  In 1948, he boarded a ship and emigrated from Italy to the United States.  In April 1955, Romano married the love of his life, Vittoria Barbuto and they had five children together.  During the day, Romano worked as a chemist at A.M. Byers steel mill in Ambridge until its closing in 1969 and then as a chemical technician at Arco-Polymers in Monaca.  However, Romano’s first love was always music.  Romano was known for his incredible musical talents, mastering numerous musical instruments (guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, violin, mandolin, piano amongst others) and taught music lessons for many years to hundreds of students from all over Beaver County.  On the weekend he played in a local favorite band, the Starlighters with his best buddy Robert Paraniuk.  In 1969, Romano won a nationwide songwriters contest for his tune called “Hurt Me” which was later released as a single by John Fox and the Carroll Jenkins Orchestra.  He was very proud to be a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).  In addition to his love for music, Romano was known for his love of  his native Italy and his endearing unselfish love for his family.

Besides his parents, Romano was preceded in death by his selfless, beautiful daughter Rosetta and his beloved sister, Teresa Carifo.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Vittoria Perri, three sons, Pasqualino “Patsy” Perri and daughter-in-law Diane Perri, Francesco “Frank” Perri, Romano Perri Jr. (Angelina Sittig) and daughter, Maria Perri Cimarusti, four grandchildren, Christopher Cimarusti, Matthew Perri, Luke Perri and Brooke Perri.  He is also survived by his nieces Rose Pucci (Peter), Frances Good (James) and two nephews,  John Carifo (Gail) and Hugo Carifo.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  Friends and family will be received Sunday February 5, 2023, from 1-5 ,BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 6, 2023 at 10:00am, St Luke the Evangelist Parish/ St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden.  Everyone please meet at the church.  Interment will follow at Economy Cemetery.
