Richard A. Batrla, 83, of Aliquippa, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday June 9, 2026. Born February 8, 1943, Sewickley, he was the son of the late John and Katherine Piatnek Batrla. Richard graduated from St. Veronica High School and proudly served his country in the US NAVY on the USS ORISKANY 34 CVA, at the same time as the late Sen. John McCain. Richard was a short haul truck driver as a teamster member covering the SW PA routes for 22 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Michic Batrla, his daughter Sherri, four brothers, Thomas, Francis, Joseph and John Jr. Batrla, and one sister, Elizabeth Morgan. Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law-, Pam and Don Tomino, Pleasant Hills, three grandchildren, Devin (Josh),Brianna and Justin, two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Waylon, one sister, Barbara Reda, Hopewell Twp., one sister-in-law, Carol Batrla, Center Twp. and many nieces and nephews. A private service was held at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Chapel, where interment followed. BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, was in charge of arrangements.
