Paul Michael Graycar

Paul Michael Graycar, 90, of Conway, died Friday October 6, 2023, at home. Born April 19, 1933, Trenton, NJ. He was the son of the late Paul and Anna Manczak Graycar. He was a member of St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral, Pittsburgh. He was a graduate of St. Cyril Methodius Seminary, Duquesne University, Catholic University of America and Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He taught numerous seminarians sacred scripture and philosophy to students at Duquesne University. He was an active priest for 31 years, director of Catholic Charities in Beaver County and a bereavement counselor for Catholic Hospice for many years, before he retired. Paul’s final act of service to others was his participation in a medical trial for treatment of Merkel Cell Carcinoma, through Hillman Cancer Center. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Lemon Graycar, two daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jason VanDeCar, Conway, Nicole Graycar, Pittsburgh, three grandchildren, Olivia, Katelyn and Hannah. In addition to his parents, he was welcomed home by his first wife, Carol Balog Graycar, daughter, Danielle and his baba Mary Manczak. Friends will be received Friday October 13, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 at St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church, 829 Thompson Run Rd., Pitts., Pa., 15237. A service will be held Saturday October 14, 2023 at 10:00am, St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church. Interment will take place at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration, Ellwood City. A Parastas service will be held Friday October 13, 2023 at 5:30pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made if desired to the Holy Transfiguration Monastery, 321 Monastery Lane, Ellwood City, Pa., 16117 or St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral.
