Our beloved mother, Mary Ann Colella, 90, of Harmony Twp., departed earthly life to be reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Saturday June 22, 2024. She passed peacefully at home in her sleep. Mary Ann was born November 5, 1933, the third child and first daughter of Paolo and Elena (Pizzola) Dascanio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rudy M. Colella, Sr. and cherished son, Rudy M. Colella, Jr., her sister Antoinette (Dascanio) Chesla and her brothers, Thomas Dascanio and Francis Dascanio. She was the mother of eight children and is survived by her daughters, Elena (Bob) Zunic of Economy Borough, Theresa Colella, Rita Colella, Carol Colella and Amy Colella, all of Harmony Twp., and sons, Michael (Colleen) Colella of Chippewa and Joseph Colella (Nancy Borkowski) of Harmony Twp., 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Colalella of Center Twp., a special niece, Francine Cairns of Beaver and a special nephew, Chris Colalella of Hopewell. Although we often teased her about Michael being her favorite child, she was truly a loving, nurturing mother to us all. Rita asked her once, how she was able to divide her love among eight children and her response was that the love wasn’t divided, it was multiplied, and she lived that credo every day. As spouses, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined the family, that love was multiplied even further. As we grew into adulthood, she became our friend Mac (her initials). Mac loved family gatherings and having her extended family and friends around her. Mac was a good cook, but an excellent baker. She was well-known for her Christmas cookies, especially her lady locks and at Easter, her Easter bread, nut rolls and poppyseed rolls. As teenagers, we grumbled about helping her bake, but we are so grateful now that we had that time with her to learn and keep those memories and traditions alive by making and sharing her specialties. Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 11:00am, at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish/ Good Samaritan Church, 725 Glenwood Avenue, Ambridge, PA. Private interment will be at a future date. We would like to thank her caregiver Cindy, her nurse Janice and aide Rose from Three Oaks Hospice, for their compassionate care. If you wish, donations to a charity of your choice are appreciated. BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, is in charge of arrangements.
