(Louise) Regina Slavik, 93, of Baden, passed away Saturday May 17, 2025. Born June 14, 1931, Sewickley, she was the daughter of the Dominic and Anna Mercadante Burzese. Regina led a life of service and dedication to the church. She was a woman of faith. She was a member of St Luke the Evangelist parish (formerly St John The Baptist Church) and attended St Teresa of Calcutta Maronite Catholic Church in Baden. Regina was an accomplished musician and served the church for more than 40 years as the organist. No one knows how many lives she touched through her music over the years, how many were consoled at a funeral, moved to tears at a Christman Eve mass, or were joyful on their wedding day. As a lifelong member of St John The Baptist Church, Baden and she was also a life member and president of the Christian Mothers. Regina was one of the original pierogi workers and dedicated herself to this project. Regina was an avid gardener throughout her life and appreciated the beauty of nature everywhere she traveled. She excelled in the art of canning her homegrown fruits and vegetables and passed on this passion to her daughters and granddaughter. She lived life to the fullest and volunteered at many functions throughout her life. Regina was extremely conscientious . While she never took time off from her duties to go on vacation, upon retirement, she cruised to Alaska, New England and Canada. She took trips on Amtrak to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. She enjoyed several road trips to Canada and cross country visiting many National Parks. She also enjoyed many trips to Italy and several countries in Europe with her daughter Loretta. Regina was proud of her Italian heritage. Her favorite saying was “I’m an old fashioned Italian farmer”. Sadly, mom was a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease, it robbed her of life and of her well-being. In addition to her parents, Regina was predeceased by her former husband, Joseph Slavik, sisters, Evelyn Kuny, Norma Jean (Dom) Dellemonache and Eleanor Vlasic, son, Dale , granddaughter Stephanie Fox and son-in-law Don Thompson. Surviving are her daughters, Loretta Thompson, Baden, Laura Jean (Bob) Weir, Darlington, two grandchildren, Matthew Farrelly, Wisconsin, and Constance (Stephen) Gossner, Montana and five great-grandchildren, Paige, RJ, Shane, Cora and Camilla.
