Katherine E. Barlamas, 81, of Harmony Township, PA passed on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 after an extremely courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.  Born July 1, 1945 in London, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Angelica (Malikouti) Mitches. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Barlamas, three brothers, George (Jane), infant brother Philip, and Philip Mitches, brother -in- law, Franzee Barlamas.
Katherine graduated from London Teachers College in London, Ontario Canada and became an elementary school teacher.  In 1965, she accompanied her brother Peter to a GOYA Convention in Hartford, Connecticut.  There she met the love of her life and future husband, William Barlamas.   At the young age of twenty-two in the year 1967, Katherine married and moved to Ambridge, PA.  She unselfishly committed to supporting her husband and her family working in Barlamas’ Luncheonette, which eventually evolved into Alexander’s.   During that time, they raised three children Constance (Dimitri) Tsambis of Oakmont, Alexander (Angel) Barlamas of Robinson Township, and Thomas Barlamas of Harmony Township.  
She was a proud Yiayia to Georgia, Katerina, Vasili, Katherine, and Marilena, and step-Yiayia to Yianni (Margot), Skylar, Dean, and Colton, brother and sister-in-law, Pete and June Mitches, London, Ontario, Canada, sister-in-law and Constance Barlamas, Ambridge and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Katherine was extremely hard working, strong, independent, and determined.  She approached life fearlessly making many personal sacrifices for her family.  At the same time her love for life could be child-like for she would get so excited about birthdays and holidays.  She especially enjoyed watching sporting events with hockey being her favorite. She had a fun sense of humor and liked to joke and socialize with friends and family.
Friends will be received on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREAMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge.  Additional viewing will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:00 AM, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge, with Father Anastasios Athanasiou, officiating. Interment will follow at Economy Cemetery.  Trisagion Service will be held Sunday at 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
