Janet H. (Harvey) Richards Obituary

Janet Harvey Richards, 92, formerly of Fair Oaks, died Sunday May 17, 2026 at Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls. Born on May 3, 1934, Philipsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Fred and Helen Luse Harvey. She retired from Quaker Valley School District in 1993, where she worked as a librarian for 25 years. She loved to read stories to the children at story time, was a past president of the Band Parents Assoc. Janet was also involved in the Football Mothers and the Fair Oaks Women’s Club for 40 years, during which time she held several cabinet positions. The organization provided many community services. She was an Elections Officer in Fair Oaks. She was an avid reader, loved her dogs, bird watching and gardening with roses being her favorite flower. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, James T. Richards, sister Ruth Knoblock and sister-in-law Alice Peightal. Surviving her are three daughters and one son, Patti Debogovich, Mary Hamilton (Lester), Dave Richards, Linda Kampmeyer (Michael), 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 1-3 & 5-7, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. A Blessing Service will follow at 7:00pm at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Rochester Manor, Providence Care Center, Good Samaritan Hospice and Chaplain Thomas for their care and compassion they gave mom. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Janet’s name made to one of her favorite charities: American Diabetes Association, Heart and Lung Association, Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or your local humane society.
