Helen Spanos Paleos Moratis, 95, formerly of Ambridge, died peacefully at the Harmar Village Care Center, Cheswick, PA, Saturday August 12, 2023. Born February 27, 1928 in Sewickley, PA, she was the daughter of the late George G. and Olga Spanos.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Anthony Paleos, and her second husband Christy J. Moratis, two brothers, Gregory G. Spanos, Augustus G. Spanos, one sister Effie Karas, son-in-law Michael Kuhar. Surviving are two sons, George A. (Jeanie) Paleos, John Paleos, one daughter, Mary P. Kuhar, two step-sons, Christopher Moratis, George (Linda) Moratis, two step-daughters, Valerie (Bruce) Hooper, Joanne (Neil) Cope, and loving “Giagia” to her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Ambridge and their Ladies Philoptochos Society. She earned degrees in computer science from Geneva College and Robert Morris University. She was the founder of the Alpha Data Company selling computers and instructing other small businesses. Although she was constantly learning and challenging herself, her joys in life were simple: her time with family, preparing and sharing her best Greek recipes - especially for holiday meals and celebrations - and tending to her flower garden. She loved traveling the world and spending time in Greece, her beloved second home. Friends will be received Tuesday August 15, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm, Bohn-Matich Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. A funeral service will be held, Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 10:00am, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road Ambridge, Pa 15003, with Fr. Anastasios Athanasiou, officiating. Interment will follow at Economy Cemetery. A Trisagion service will be held on Tuesday at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
