Fr. Emmanuel Nicholas Lillios, PhD, 72, of Baden, died Tuesday June 18, 2024, at home. Born August 11, 1951, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of the late Hon. Nicholas Emmanuel and Evangeline Cavros Lillios. Fr. Emmanuel was a Priest Emeritus of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge, retiring in 2018, after faithfully serving 13 years. He was also a private counselor. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, Masters of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and completed his Doctoral studies at the University of Iowa. He also studied a year in Thessaloniki Greece. He served various parishes throughout the United States and did mission work in East Africa and India. He also served in the US Marine Corps. Surviving is his wife, Theresa Ann Duggan Lillios, one son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas Emmanuel and Crystal Lillios, Ohio, two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Dr. Christopher Ban, Sewickley, Amalia Lillios-Bishop and Pierce Bishop, Ambridge, five grandchildren, Aiden, Emmanuel “Manny”, Anastasia, Ulysses and Michael, one brother and sister-in-law,Hon. Paul and Mary Lillios, Illinois, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dr. Anna and Dr.George Everett, Florida, Nicolette and Dr. Steve Diamantis, Nebraska, Mariellen Crosson, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and their children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bradley Crosson. Friends will be received Friday June 21, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Rd., Ambridge, where a Divine Liturgy will take place on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am, officiated by His Eminence, Metropolitan SAVAS of Pittsburgh. A private interment will follow at Nativity of the Theotokos, Saxonburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery, St. Gregory Palamas Monastery or Holy Trinty Greek Orthodox Church, directed to the “Priest’s Discretionary Fund”.
