Eugene Casello Obituary

Eugene E. Casello (Pope) Ambridge Eugene E. Casello (Pope), 92, of Ambridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, following a brief illness. Eugene was born on February 26, 1928, in Ambridge to the late Guerino and Jenny (Pastor) Casello. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank G. Casello; his son-in-law, Mark Hochevar; grandson, Kyle Eugene Hochevar and a special uncle, Anthony Pastor. Eugene was a graduate of Ambridge Area High School. He very proudly served his country as a drill instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a former employee of the A.M. Byers Company, Ambridge and the Tony Rich Hair Factory, Pittsburgh. Eugene was a member of Good Samaritan Church and many local organizations including the Ambridge Jaycees, Ambridge Quarterback Club and Ambridge Wolves Club. He cherished the lifelong friends from “The Card Club” with whom he spent most of his retirement. He was most recognized working as a barber in Ambridge for nearly 50 years. Patrons knew him as “Clipper” where he made many lasting friendships over the years, for each of whom were very special to him and his family. Eugene was a ‘one of a kind’ personality, who was most comfortable being with people and proud of the relationships he had with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Diane (Legge) Casello, both were active members of the Ambridge Community. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Paula Casello and his daughters, Darlene Hochevar and Jenine (Danny) Persuit, all of Ambridge; his grandchildren, Elise Casello, Pittsburgh, Kara (Michael) Coulter, North Carolina, Jimmy Casello, Georgia, Derek (Yaneydis) Persuit, Texas, Dean Casello, Florida, Kelsey Persuit, North Carolina, Emily Casello, New York and Janelle Persuit, Ambridge; great grandchildren, Camryn Kyle Coulter, North Carolina and Deyanis Persuit, Lancaster, Pa.; his sister-in-law, Joan Casello, Ridley Park, Pa.; nephew, David Casello, New York and many nieces, nephews and extended family located throughout Western Pa., New York, Indiana, Missouri and Calgary Canada. Due to current health and safety concerns related to COVID 19 virus, the family has postponed all visitation and services at this time. A memorial service will be announced at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge.
