Cecelia E. Kowal, 90, of Baden, passed away peacefully at the Sturgeon Health Care Center at Masonic Village on July 20, 2025. She was born in Ambridge on August 28, 1934 to the late Adam and Cecelia Pawlowska Mazurkewiscz. She graduated from Ambridge Area High School in 1953. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ambridge for over 70 years. She loved baking for family and friends and was famous for her holubtsi (aka Polish hand grenades). She worked at Sears and Roebuck for 30 years. She loved to do crossword puzzles and could play a mean game of Scrabble. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen Kowal and son, George Kowal. Surviving are one son, Michael Kowal, three daughters and son-in-law, Katherine and Mark Blaho, Stephanie Kowal, Sonia Kowal, one sister, Frances Kerr, four grandchildren, Paul Kowal, Jessica, Christopher and Scott Blaho and reluctant cat grandma to Babette. Friends will be received Thursday July 24, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES,INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Friday July 25, 2025 at 11:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30am at St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, with Fr. Michael Polosky, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. A Parastas Service will be held at 7:30pm in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Assisted Living and the Nursing Unit of Masonic Village, for such wonderful and compassionate care.
