Catherine (Mendicino) Matzie

Catherine (Kay) Matzie, 81 of Ambridge, PA loving and devoted mother, grandmother and wife passed away Sunday August 21, 2022,Heritage Valley Sewickley. Born October 8, 1940, she was the daughter of The late Louis and Rose Severino Mendicino. Surviving are her children David (Deborah) of Rochester, Robert (Patricia) of Harmony Township and Michael of Ambridge and her grandchildren Ryan, Emily and Claire Matzie. Her brother and sister in law Anthony and Delores Mendicino of Richmond, CA and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 2021 by her loving husband of 57 years, Andrew. Her and her husband’s blueprint for life was faith and family. She was a member of the former Christ the King Church and Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge where she was a longtime church volunteer serving in many capacities including lector and Eucharistic Minister.  She was a former member of the Christian Mothers and Italian Woman’s Club.  Her and her husband were honored by the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, the Manifesting of the Kingdom of God award. Mom fought the good fight beating Pancreatic Cancer and more recent health issues but has now finished the race. There is no doubt she has received the crown of righteousness from the lord and is at peace with no more pain. Friends will be received Tuesday August 23, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC.,1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am, St Luke Evangelist Parish/ Good Samaritan Church.  Interment will take place at All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery in Braddock, PA. The Christian Mothers will recite the rosary on Tuesday at 3:00pm at the funeral home.
