Andrew (Jr) Matzie, 87 of Ambridge, PA passed away at Heritage Valley Beaver January 17, 2021 due to complications from COVID-19. Born December 21, 1933 and a lifelong resident of Ambridge, he was the son of the late, Andrew and Milne Matzie. Surviving are his his loving wife of 57 years Catherine (Kay). His children David (Deborah) of Rochester, Robert (Patricia) of Harmony Township and Michael of Ambridge and his grandchildren Ryan, Emily and Claire Matzie. His brother in law and sister in law Anthony and Delores Mendicino of Richmond, CA and their children and grandchildren and a special cousin Marie (Dolly) Graziano and her family. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen, Frank, Victor (Lena), Cecilia and infant Eugene, his in-laws Louis and Rose Mendicino and many cousins. He was a graduate of Ambridge School District and attended Robert Morris Business College and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Westinghouse Electric Vanport, PA. His blueprint for life was faith and family. He was a member of the former Christ the King Church and Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge where he was a longtime church volunteer, cantor and member of the choir. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an officer including president and was honored at the local, deanery and diocesan level. He and his wife were honored by the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the Manifesting of the Kingdom of God award. Special thanks to the staff at Rochester Manor and Villa and Heritage Valley Beaver for their compassionate care. All services were private and a mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge. Interment took place at All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery in Braddock, PA.
