Alexander “Alby” Churchin, 89, formerly of Ambridge, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Trumbull, Connecticut, after a long and well-fought illness. Though his journey here has ended, the stories, laughter, and love he shared will live on in all who knew him. Born to Mary and Steve Churchin, Alby grew up with a strong sense of family and hard work, lessons instilled in him by his mother and godfather after losing his father at a young age. Those early lessons shaped the generous, optimistic, and devoted man he became, one who always found the bright side and never missed a chance to share a good story. For nearly 68 years, Alby was deeply devoted to the love of his life and partner in all things, his wife, Diane. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, music, and countless memories. He was the proud father of Ron (Sharon) Churchin and Sandra Churchin, whose names and love he held close to his heart even as his memory began to fade. His pride extended to his granddaughters, Loren (Nathan) Lang, Kristine (McAdory) Lipscomb, and Ashton (Julian) Mikola, who he celebrated for their strength, accomplishments, and devotion as mothers and wives. His legacy continues with his beloved great-grandchildren: Alexis, Logan, Ada, Blake, and Gordon, each carrying a spark of his humor, athleticism, and big-hearted spirit. Alby spent his career with the railroad, a job he took great pride in, knowing his hard work helped provide a good life for his family. He was the kind of man who would drive straight through the night after a long day of work just so his family could wake up at the beach in Florida. He gave freely and joyfully, whether it was supporting every child who came to his door selling something or sharing his time and stories with anyone lucky enough to sit beside him. Known for his love of sports, Alby was a standout football player for Ambridge High School and a proud supporter of his alma mater throughout his life, even helping organize class reunions to stay connected with lifelong friends. He was also a man of rhythm and song, an excellent dancer with a voice that could fill a room and, fittingly, continued to sing until just days before he joined the heavenly chorus. Alby found his greatest joy in life’s simplest moments: sitting on the porch listening to the rain on the tin roof, a dog by his side (likely enjoying a shared snack), and a story on his lips about football, family, or the good old days. He was a man who believed every day was a gift and lived like it. Reunited now with his brothers George and Milos, Alby leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering optimism. To say family was important to him would be an understatement, it was everything. Friends will be received Monday November 17, 2025, 4-8, BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC.,1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 18, 2025 at 10:00am.
