Mary “Butchie” Escoto-Kosis, passed away Friday December 28, 2018. Born March 6, 1932, in Ambridge, Pa., she was a daughter of Paulino and Carlotta Palomino-Escoto. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Kosis; a daughter, Leslie; her brother, “Pippy” Escoto; and sisters, Eva Santilli and Rose Keenan. Surviving are her children, Lorraine (Bob) Strano, Dr. Wade (Colleen) Kosis, Carla (Kevin) Kelly and Tina (Tim) Byrne. Known as “Mama Heidi,” she ADORED her 11 grandchildren, Jacob and Phillip Strano, Adrien (Matt) Collavo, Erin (Kevin) Penater, Alex Kosis, Ashley Gutierrez, Cheyenne and Haven Kelly, Lucy and Raquel Moore and William Byrne; and six great-grandchildren, Brody, Brooke and Luke Penater, Marisol Gutierrez, PÍa and Emmie Collavo. One of six children, Mary is survived by two sisters, Fay Herring and Maria Moralchek. She was also so blessed with many loving nieces, nephews and great friends. Butchie was known for her famous, authentic Mexican cooking and was an amazing hostess to family and friends but nothing was more important to her than her children and grandchildren, who she loved unconditionally. “Vaya con DÍos Mama Heidi.” The BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, is in charge of arrangements.
