Martha Jean (Karr) Mihalik

Martha Jean Mihalik, daughter of Anna and Michael Karr and lifelong resident of Beaver County, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, November 16, 2017. She was 81 and had suffered from an aggressive form of cancer in recent years.

Martha was born on August 24, 1936. She spent a significant portion of her childhood summering with her mother’s family in West Virginia and devoted much time corresponding with her father’s family in Croatia. She graduated from Ambridge High School in 1954.

She was married to her high school sweetheart, Walter Mihalik from 1954 until his passing in 1995. Together, they raised three children.

Even in her declining years, she continued to be a wellspring of courage, love, and devotion. Her quick wit continued to keep us laughing and her strength and love of life and family was an inspiration. She was the bedrock of her family and everyone who knew her loved her. She will be deeply missed.

She leaves her devoted family, a circle of beloved lifelong friends, and her partner of 20 years, Donald Domitrovich.

Her immediate family includes three children, Walter “Butch” Mihalik Jr. and his wife of 40 years, Christina Mihalik, Jeffery Mihalik, and Melanie Mihalik; four grandchildren, Jemal, Angela, Abigail, and Benjamin; her beloved nephew, Loui Antonini; and numerous cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Sumrok and brother, James Karr.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 22, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge
