Joseph S. Slavik, 89, formerly of Baden, is now in Paradise with his Lord and Savior. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 20, 2017
Born December 2, 1927, in Gary, Ind., a son of the late Steve and Bertha Slavik, he served in the 3rd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Armco Steel, retiring after 30 years of service. Residing in Baden for 62 years, he was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his former wife, Regina; children, Dale, Somerset; Loretta (Don) Thompson, Baden, and Laura (Bob) Weir, Darlington; grandchildren, Matthew Farrelly, Stephanie (Roger) Fox and Constance (Stephen) Gossner; great-grandchildren, Paige, RJ (Roger Joseph), Shane and Cora, and his special girl he "adopted" as his granddaughter, Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul and his wife Marie Ann, and their daughter, Christine.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
