John Schaffer Economy Borough John Schaffer, 91, of Economy Borough, died Friday, June 28, 2019, at St John Specialty Care. Born September 16, 1927, in Osage, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles and Katherine Konowal Schaffer. He was retired from LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works, with 38 years of service. John was a member of Good Samaritan Church; Aliquippa VFW #1821; Baden American Legion #641 and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Schaffer in 1992; one brother, Charles Schaffer; three sisters, Ann Michalec, Helen Hlad and Eva Lambert and one granddaughter, Melissa Lotowski. Surviving are two sons, John Christopher Schaffer and Thomas Schaffer both of Economy Borough; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Lynn and Herbert Brittner, Zelienople and Michele and John Lotowski, Economy; one sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Bill Anderegg, Paden City, W. Va.; five grandchildren, Herbert III (Nichole) Brittner, Chapel Hill N.C., Matthew (Jessica) Brittner, Evans City, John Brittner, Zelienople, Katherine (Matthew) Haines, Erie and Sarah Lotowski, Economy; a great-grandson, Herbert Brittner IV, Chapel Hill N.C. and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. at BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, with a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 p.m. at Good Samaritan Church Interment will follow at Good Samaritan Cemetery.
