Carita Marie (Ritter) Marzio

Carita Marie (Ritter) Marzio, 94, formerly of Baden, Pa., passed away on April 5, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio, just four days shy of her 95th birthday. Born April 9, 1923, in her home at 1034 West 32nd St., Erie, Pa., Carita was the daughter of the late Louis Francis Ritter and Millicent Marie (Carey) Ritter. She was a 1940 graduate of East High School, Erie, Pa., and later worked at Bliley Electric Company where she assisted in the production of materials for the Second World War. On May 17, 1946, she married Anthony R. Marzio and resided in Baden. Carita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed bowling, roller skating, dancing and baking her famous pies for family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Marzio; one daughter and son-in-law, Penny (George) Edge; one sister and brother-in-law, Millicent (George) Hershey, and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Fran) Ritter. Carita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Edward Shewak, New Brighton; six grandchildren, Shawn Edge and his fiancée (Alicia Mitchell), Columbus, Ohio; Shane (Shanna) Edge, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; Jennifer (Bryan) Dinello, Arlington, Va.; Allison Shewak, Beaver; Courtney (Sean) Ward, Alexandria, Va., and Ashley Shewak, Beaver Falls; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander and Norah Edge, Lincoln Edge, Cameron and Colin Dinello, Vivian Shewak, Violet Ward, and Gianna and Kaymin King, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of blessing service at 6 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. Father Joseph Carr will officiate. Private interment will take place Tuesday in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
