William Berton

William Berton, 89, of Economy, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in Rochester Manor.

Born August 24, 1927, in Ambridge, a son of the late John and Agnes Anderson Berton, he was retired from the Transit Authority. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a member of the Baden American Legion Post 641 and the Economy Senior Citizens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg Berton, in 2006, and two sisters, Margaret Ellen Bandi and Edith Janowski.

Surviving are a dear companion, Violet F. Huey, Economy; an adopted daughter, Deborah and Jeffrey Ray, Oakdale; two grandchildren, Krista and Evan Ray; three nieces and two nephews.

Friends will be received Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. Pastor William Steel will officiate.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 1 p.m. at the cemetery to provide full military honors.
