Walter Robert "Bob" Roman, 88, of Harmony Twp., went to the great golf course in Heaven on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.
Born April 14, 1927, in Ambridge, a son of the late Jerry and Mary Tysiachney Roman, he had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired from Armco Steel Corp. as an electrician. He owned and operated Bob's Pro Shop at Economy Lanes in Ambridge for many years, where he was one of two individuals to have a 300 game. He had also worked at the former Imperial Lanes of Conway and most recently Baden Bowl in Baden. He was a former member and past president of the former Ambridge Country Club. He was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Baden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Irene Garbinsky Roman, and his second wife, Demetra "Dee Dee" Kallas Roman.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Scherfel Roman; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan Roman, Clearwater, FL; Jerry and Terri Roman, Raccoon Twp., and Richard Roman, Economy; two granddaughters, Brittney Nicole Roman, Columbus, OH, and Emily Rose Roman, Clearwater, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Dorothy Roman, Economy; a sister and brother-in-law, Olga "Bunny" and Peter Vito, York, PA; a brother-in-law, John Garbinsky, Ambridge, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Jill McGregor, his pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Economy Cemetery. The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m. to conduct full military honors.
