Kathryn R. Regan of Ambridge died at age 98 on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Franciscan Manor in Beaver Falls.
Born in Ambridge on May 6, 1918, Kathryn was the daughter of John and Catherine Flanagan Regan. Kathryn was a member of Good Samaritan Parish, attended St. Veronica Grade School, and graduated from St. Veronica High School in 1936. She earned an undergraduate degree in education in 1940 and a master's degree in education in 1965, both from Duquesne University.
Kathryn began teaching in 1941 at Hopewell Elementary and, in 1943, started a 43-year career at Ambridge School District as an elementary teacher. Kathryn loved her Catholic faith, her Irish heritage, and her years teaching elementary school children.
Kathryn is survived by her dear friend, Janet Zigerell and her husband Larry of Baden and Janet and Larry's sons and families, LJ, Lin and Nova Zigerell of Bloomington, Ill., and EJ, Joanna, and Kathryn Zigerell and Elizabeth Hovan, all of Harrisburg, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph G. Regan on January 2, 1981, and John P. Regan on October 20, 1996, and one sister, Theresa M. Regan on October 25, 2009.
Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in Good Samaritan Church.
Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Parish.
