Joe Sykes

Joe Sykes, 84, of Ambridge, died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born March 17, 1931, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Joseph and Marion Lowe Sykes, he was retired from J&L Steel and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine Gray Sykes; one brother, Leon Sykes, Ambridge; two sisters, Dorias Robinson, Ambridge, and Geraldine Council, North Carolina; an adopted niece, Joyceline Byas, Columbus, OH; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Green Sykes and Barry Sykes; two sisters, Louella Christian and Mercedes Jones.

Friends will be received Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
