Ethel Jean (Scherfel) Roman

Ethel Jean Scherfel-Roman, 76, of Harmony Twp., died Saturday, December 23, 2017, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 25, 1941, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Francis J. and Rita Ferrucci Scherfel, Ethel was a long time employee at the New Alliance Federal Credit Union. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Baden where she served in a variety of capacities, including financial secretary, treasurer and parish council leadership. She was a member of the Baden Women’s Club.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her first husband, John Sikich; her second husband, Raymond Palmer and her third husband, Walter “Bob” Roman; two brothers, William and Robert Scherfel; sister, Mary DeFrancesco; a brother-in-law, Edward Dugan; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Wharton; a stepson, Jerry Roman; and two adoring great-nephews, Brooks Watkins and Michael Trella.
Ethel is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Cheryl Scherfel and Richard and JoAnn Scherfel; two sisters, and a brother-in-law, Sandy Dugan and Susan and Dan Dunlap; a sister-in-law, Susan Scherfel; brother-in-law, Dave DeFrancesco; three step-granddaughters, Valerie, Brittany and Emily; one step great-grandson, Jack; two stepsons, Robert (Sue) Roman and Rick Roman; and her friend and pastor, Jill McGregor.
Ethel loved Christmas, so there is no doubt as to why she leaves us during this most precious time. Each year, Ethel made Christmas ornaments for everyone’s Christmas tree. She loved traveling and she loved FAMILY.
Ethel will be sadly missed by so many who knew her, but as she enters the gates of Heaven she will be surrounded with much love from those who have passed before her.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where an additional viewing will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Baden, with the Rev. Jill McGregor officiating.
