Calvin W. Sittig, 84, formerly of Ambridge, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, in Allegheny General Hospital
Born March 9, 1931, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Rudolph and Martha Sala Sittig, he was retired from Duquesne Light, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Ambridge VFW.
In this world where so many of us fails, he succeeded. A faithful husband, a truly good father, a humble man … simple, wise, loving and deserving of more than we were every able to give him. He was the giver, we the recipients.
A praying man who loved God first … knows the Lord Jesus … and loved us all. In 84 years, no violence from him and barely a loud word. Gentle and beautiful, a very rare man.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Moyer Sittig; four sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Jude and Lisa Ann Sittig, Harmony Twp.; Raymond Michael and Honor Sittig, Scottsdale, AZ; Cal Thomas and Angelina Sittig, Ambridge, and Mark Joseph and Patricia Lynn Sittig, Monaca; two stepsons, Tom and Linda Moyer, Beaver, and Richard and Jeanne "Tillie" Moyer, Beaver; two stepdaughters, Deborah Moyer, New Brighton, and Tina Moyer, Beaver Falls; 24 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Catherine M. Sittig, on March 4, 2005; five brothers, Alfred, Lawrence, Russell, Norman and William Sittig, and two sisters, Luella Metz and Evelyn Sittig.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald MacNeal, pastor of the Nazarene Church of New Brighton, officiating.
Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
