Anne Rizzo, 96, of Baden, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 21, 2015, in the Franciscan Manor.
Born February 3, 1919, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late John and Xenia Mazur. During her life, she worked as a floral designer. She was a member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church; Conway VFW; past president of UOL and the Sisterhood of the church, and served as chairman of the Daffodil Drive for the American Cancer Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony G. “Tony†Rizzo, on July 27, 2008; a son, Anthony Allen Rizzo; four brothers, Joseph, Michael, John and Peter Mazur; a sister, Mary Janicki, and a son-in-law, Lee Powell, in November 2014.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheryl Rizzo, Palm Harbor, FL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sally Powell, Big Beaver; Janet Rizzo Adams and her husband Bob, Baden, and Toni and Bob Klacik, Conway; two grandchildren, Erica and her husband Matt Ohler, Ohio, and Jennifer and her husband David Lapic, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary and Isabella Ohler, all of Ohio, and a sister, Stephanie “Stella†Sabolosky, Ambridge.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of Parastas service at 7:30 p.m. in the BOHN-MATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge. Translation of the body to follow to church. Additional viewing will be held Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of Requiem service at 10 a.m. in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Very Rev Father Michael Kochis will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vladimir Endowment Fund in Anne’s memory.
